About kachhi ghodi
Kachhi Ghodi dance is a folk dance performed to entertain the bridegroom’s party during marriage functions. Male artists perform this dance on dummy horses. The artists wear colorful turban and kurta and elaborate horse costume which has mirror work embroidery. They wear music bells (ghungroo) around the ankles. With swords in their hands, they perform mock fights to the rhythm of accompanying drum beats and flute music. Singers sing folk tales praising local bandits. This dance is also performed in Gujarat and Maharashtra. In Tamil Nadu it is performed by the name Poi kaal kuthirai attam (false leg horse dance).
