  1. About jagan mohan palace art gallery

    Jagan Mohan Palace built in 1861 by Krishnaraja Wodeyar was the alternate residence of Mysore royal family. In 1915 the palace was converted into an art gallery and named as Jagan Mohan Palace Art Gallery. There are more than 2000 paintings in the art gallery of Mughal, Mysore and Shantiniketan styles. Some of the important collections of paintings include the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, Lady with the Lamp by Haldenkar, etc. There is a painting made in rice gain which can be viewed only through a magnifying glass. Besides painting, there are several exhibits of musical instruments, weapons, sculptures, antiques, and several unique exhibits.
