  1. About lion and peacock dance

There is a legend behind the Lion and Peacock dance. Long ago there was a saint named Tentelling, who meditated on the top of Gangrikarpo Mountain in Himalayas continuously for three years without food or water. Two snow lions living near that place were surprised to see his severe meditation and they visited the saint and offered him their milk. Thus they became intimate friends. Nearby inhabitants, who heard about this strange relationship between a human and lions, visited him. After completing the meditation all of them danced together with joy and were blessed with prosperity and peace. From then onwards people, wearing masks, continue to perform the dance on all important celebrations.
