About monsoon palace
The Monsoon Palace, also known as Sajjangarh Palace, located at the Bansdara peak of Aravalli Hills was built with a purpose to watch the movement of monsoon clouds. The construction of the palace was initiated by Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1884 AD and was completed by his successor Maharana Fateh Singh. Other than astronomical purpose, it was also used as a hunting lodge for the royal family. Constructed in white marble, it has high towers, a central court, several rooms and quarters. The museum in ground floor has collection of paintings, maps and images. The underground water reservoir has a storage capacity of 195, 500 litres. From the Monsoon Palace, one can have fantastic views of the city, mountains, palaces and beautiful sunset. Presently the Monsoon Palace is administered by the Forest Department of Rajasthan.
