About eklingji temple
Eklingji Temple located at Kailashpuri town, on the banks of Indersagar Lake, is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Eklingji means One Sivalinga. The temple was originally built by Bappa Rawal, the founder of Mewar dynasty, in 734 A.D. and was later renovated by various kings. There are 108 temples within the complex made of marble and sandstone. The beautifully sculpted double storied main shrine has a four-faced black stone idol of Lord Shiva, with Shiva facing south, Brahma facing west, Vishnu facing north and Surya facing east. There are images of Bull Nandi and Bappa Rawal outside the temple. Other shrines of Parvati, Kartikeya, Ganesha, Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati and many other gods and goddesses are also there in the temple complex. Shivaratri is the major festival of the temple.
