City Palace, the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, is located on the banks of Pichola Lake. Its construction was initiated in 1559 AD by Maharana Udai Singh and was completed over 400 years by different rulers of Mewar dynasty. It is constructed in granite and marble with a fusion of Indian and Medieval architectural style. There are 11 amazing palaces in the complex. There are several gates including the main gate Bara Pol, Tripolia, Hathi Pol, etc. The different structures within the complex include Krishna Vilas, Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Bada Mahal, Manak Mahal, Dilkush Mahal, Chini Chitrashala, Rangh Bhawan, Mor Chowk, Laksmi Vilas Chowk, Bhim Vilas, etc. There are the famous Jagadish Temple, as well as the temples of Lord Krishna, Meera Bhai and Shiva. There is a museum which displays wonderful ancient articles, paintings, utensils and furniture. A striking hanging garden is another major attraction.
