About jaisalmer fort
Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Quila or Golden Fort, is regarded as one of the largest forts in the world. The fort is located on the top of Trikuta Hill and was constructed in 1156 AD by Maharawal Jaisal Singh. The yellow sandstone walls turn to golden colour at sunset and hence the name Sonar Quila. It has amazing architecture, a blend of Islamic and Rajput styles. A 30 feet tall wall surrounding the fort and 99 bastions protect the fort from enemy attacks. There are several architectural buildings inside the fort complex, including palaces and temples. Maharawal Palace with its marble throne is a popular attraction. It has a museum which displays the arms, dresses, utensils, instruments, etc., of the Rajput kingdom.
