About gadisar lake
Gadisar Lake, also known as Gadsisar Lake, is an artificial lake located at less than 2 km from the Jaisalmer city. It was built by Raja Rawal Jaisal, the first king of Jaisalmer, and renovated in 1367 AD by Maharawal Gadsi Singh. In the olden days, it was the only water source of the city. There is a wonderful archway known as Tilon ki Pol at the entrance and several temples on the banks of the lake. A huge domed pavilion is constructed in the middle of the lake. Boating and Shikaras are available and one can watch several migratory birds. Large number of people visits here during Gangaur celebrations.
