Patwon-ki-Haveli located at about 500 m from Jaisalmer fort is the first Haveli in Rajasthan. It is a group of 5 Havelis, built in 1805 AD by Guman Chand Patwa, a rich trader of that time, for his five sons. It has wonderful architecture with intricate carvings on the yellow sandstone s, marvelous mirror work and wall paintings. One of the five Havelis is now operating as a museum, which has a good collection of antique items and decorative goods. This Haveli is under the administration of the State Government, and several government offices and the Archaeological Survey of India function here.
