  1. About naropa festival

Naropa is a grand spiritual festival in Ladakh. Ladakh's Hemis monastery is home to frolic and celebration once every 12 years, when people from all walks of life come together to celebrate Buddhist yogi Naropa’s life in a month-long festival. Popularly known as the Kumbh of the Himalayas, the festival receives nearly half a million visitors each time. This time around, the turnout is expected to be 1.5 million. This is the biggest and most prominent Buddhist festival in the world and attracts a large number of tourists across the world. The rare public display of six bone ornaments and the unfurling of the ancient silk Thangka of Buddha Amitabha, the largest silk brocade in the Himalayas, are among the main highlights of the Naropa festival. Don't miss the grandeur of this festival and a rare chance of experiencing the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh.
