    Akhil Bharatiya Kalidas Samaroh of Ujjain is a grand festival associated with Kalidas, the greatest Sanskrit poet of the country. It is celebrated in the month of November / December every year with an objective to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of our country by means of literary presentations, cultural programs and dramas. The first Samaroh was held in 1958 which was inaugurated by India’s first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Various activities of this festival include presentation of Kalidas’s original plays in Sanskrit, versions in Hindi and other regional languages, theatrical dance forms, ballets, music, and an All India exhibition of art and sculpture. Besides, seminars and discussion on various aspects related to Kalidasa are also organized that attract a large number of serious spectators.
