About yemshe festival
Yemshe festival is a famous harvest festival celebrated by the Pochuri Nagas of Nagaland. It involves several rituals and traditions as per the Pochuri culture. It is celebrated in Kohima in the last week of September that extends up to the first week of October. People dressed up in their cultural attires celebrate in a grand manner with feasts, folk music and involving in traditional dances. The bamboo dance performed during this festival is globally acclaimed. Feasts with wine have high significance in this festival. The festival is named as “Small Yemshe” or “Big Yemshe” depending on whether it is performed in a family or entire village.

Do and Don't
Rituals are to be performed by the head of the family. Use of the grains like millet and maize are excluded during the festival.
