  1. About baba sodal mela

Baba Sodal Mela is celebrated in Jalandhar in memory of a great soul called Baba Sodal. It is held on the 14th day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadon (September) with the participation of large number of pilgrims. Baba Sodal was born on the Chadha family of Khati caste and there are several legends associated with his life. It is believed that the child Sodal received communion with the God on the 14th day of Shukla Paksha of Bhadon. Rituals are performed near the Samadhi of the Baba. People take a sacred dip in the Baba Sodal ka Sarovar near the Samadhi and prepare Kasar and offer 14 times seeking the blessings of the Baba. The Chadha clan eats only fried food on the 14th day of Shukla Paksha. On the previous night they sow ‘Khetri’ in the name of Baba Sodal for prosperity and happiness.
