    Mullakkal Chirappu Maholsavam is a famous festival celebrated in the Mullakkal Rajarajeswai Temple in Alappuzha. The temple is renowned for its accessibility for devotees belonging to all castes and religions. Chirappu Maholsavam begins on the first of Malayalam month Vrischikam (Mid-November) and is celebrated for 41 days and concludes on the 11th of Malayalam month Dhanu (December end or January first week). Celebrations of the last 11 days are considered to be more important, which involves procession of nine caparisoned elephants with a large crowd of devotees. Thousands of devotees from different parts of the state participate in the festival. The festival is enriched with several cultural programs that reflect Kerala’s great cultural heritage and art forms. Famous artists and musicians perform at night and entertain the devotees. Annadanam (feast) on the final day is a remarkable event when food is served to more than 4000 devotees. The elaborate display of firework in the last day gives a spectacular visual treat.
