About barura sherif
Barura Sherif is a shrine constructed in memory of the renowned Sufi saint Data Amir Ali Sha of the 18th century. He was a person of great virtues of love, purity and simplicity and was highly respected by all people irrespective of caste and religion. The Barura Sherif fair is held on the eve of Chaitra Navami, starting from the 1st day of Chaitra to the 10th day, when thousands of devotees visit the shrine and pay homage to the saint. The shrine is constructed at about 10 feet height from the bank of the River Sat Vahini (seven Sisters) and one has to cross this seasonal stream to reach the shrine. The fair is held with lots of passion and ends with the recital of the Holy Quran on the tenth day.
