    Pushkar Fair (Pushkar Camel Fair) or locally called Pushkar Ka Mela is one of the most liked and popular fair of Rajasthan. Pushkar Fair is celebrated in the beginning of winter season. It is five days camel and livestock fair held every year in Pushkar city. The Pushkar Fair is celebrated on the holy Kartik Purnima. The full moon day in the Hindu lunar month of Kartik has been known to be very auspicious. Pilgrims from far and wide come to take a dip in the holy waters of the Pushkar Lake and pray to Lord Brahma. The Fair is different with the other fairs of Rajasthan. The Pushkar fair is actually a big event where thousands of camel owners come with their cattle to participate in the events and to buy and sell to their cattle, Camel and horses. There are number of events during the fair. Camel Race, Gorband - Camel Decoration, Camel and Horse Dance, Kabbadi Match (Local v/s Visitors), Cultural Programmers, Turban Tying and Tilak. We cannot forget to mention the well-known longest moustache, matka phod and bridal competition here. Camel race contest is usually the first event during Pushkar fair. The camels are decorated in finery and are raced to reach the finishing line before the music stops (something like musical chairs). Vying for the first prize the camel is judged upon its speed its equipment and ornaments, its capacity to interpret and carry out its masters' commands are the criteria of selection.Overall, Pushkar fair is a great opportunity to know Rajasthan culture, tradition, and foods and people closely. There is massive inflow of thousands of local and foreign tourists in Pushkar fair.

    If you never did camel ride before, in Pushkar you have good chance to do it. There are many companies, which offers camel ride. You can choose from trip that lasts from few hours to 2 weeks.You can find very cheap clothes good quality and souvenirs. There are many shops on the main street along lake. You should try some local foods directly from street sellers. Pushkar is said to have over 500 temples, 80 are large. You must visit Brahma Temple. You should visit Savitri temple and you will have beautiful view to lake and city of Pushakar.
