  1. About mukstar maghi fair

    Muktsar Maghi fair is held each year on the Makar Sankranthi day (the first day of the month of Magh), in January, at the holy city of Muktsar in Punjab to in memory of the 40 Sikh warriors who were killed in the Battle of Muktsar in 1705. On this day, people from Punjab and neighboring states gather at Muktsar to pay tribute to the martyrs. After taking a holy bath in the Muktsar Tank, a grand procession is held to the three holy hills in Muktsar. A huge fair is organized with several stalls selling varieties of items including electronic goods, agricultural implements, Nihangs’ weapons, etc., at throw away price. Several entertainment activities are organized including merry-go-round, circus, magic show, etc. Cultural programs including traditional dances and folk songs are performed by the local artists. The fair is one of the largest of its kind in Punjab and attract a large number of people.
