  1. About chitra vichitra fair

Chitra Vichitra Fair in Sabarkantha in Gujarat is held in the month of March / April, a fortnight after Holi celebrations. It is one of the largest tribal festivals in Gujarat, which is derived from the story of Chitravirya and Vichitravirya in the epic of Mahabharata. The tribal women of the region gather at the river front on a full moon night and pray for their dead ancestors. Celebration begins the next day when men and women appear in their colorful traditional attires and ornaments. They move around in groups, beating drums and singing folk songs, and dance and celebrate the entire day. There are several entertainment activities, merry-go-round and a number of stalls selling food, sweets, handicrafts and accessories. The fair also serves as a platform for the tribal youth to meet their prospective partners for marriage.
