About baisakhi festival
Baisakhi, also known as Vaisakhi, is a religious festival celebrated in Punjab to commemorate the establishment of Panth Khalsa or the Order of Pure Ones, by Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs. It is also the spring harvest festival for the Sikhs. Gurudwaras are decorated and the Sikh people, after taking bath in the early morning, visit the Gurudwaras and hold kirtans and prayers. Community fair and processions are held accompanied by merry making songs and dances. People gather together and share festive foods and sweets. This day is also known as Khalsa Sirjana Divas or Khalsa Sajna Divas. Special celebration is held at the Gurudwara at Anandpur Sahib and at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
