  1. About villianur car festival

    Villianur Car festival is an annual temple festival celebrated at the Thirukameswarar Kukilambal Temple, Villianur, in Pondicherry. Also known as Brahmotsavam, it is celebrated on the Full Moon day in the month of May. On this day the idol of the deity is carried in a chariot for a procession. The 15 meter high chariot is beautifully decorated with flowers and moved forward with ropes pulled by a large number of devotees. Just touching on this rope is believed to be highly auspicious. The procession covers the entire village and ends in the temple. Several devotees involve in charity acts like supplying buttermilk, curd and rice to the people with a belief that their wishes will be fulfilled by serving the crowd.
