  1. About procession of all saints

Procession of all Saints is celebrated in the month of March to pay tribute to the saints during Lent, which commemorate the 40-day penance Jesus Christ had undergone before his crucifixion. Starting from a sorrowful penance in the earlier times, it has now got festive spirit. On the fifth Monday of Lent, devotees carry statues of 31 saints on their shoulder in a procession around the streets. A commentary on the lives of saints is delivered in front of the St. Andrew’s Church. Earlier there were statues of 65 saints in the procession and it has been reduced to 31. Due to the participation of thousands of devotes and the presence of large number of stalls, a festive atmosphere is seen throughout.
