  1. About losar in lahaul spiti

Losar festival is the Tibetan New Year Day festival, which is celebrated in Lahul Spit Valley in Himachal Pradesh with much fervor. It is also observed as victory of good over evil, as it is a day that remembers the assassination of the cruel Tibetan King known as Langdarma in the 9th century. People light sacred lamps in front of their deity called Kimshu and sing devotional songs in the early morning. They prepare square lumps of flowers known as Brang-Gyas and keep it in a plate. Statues of gods and figures of animals are kept around the plate, which are always maintained in odd number. The festival is celebrated for 3 to 10 days.
