  1. About yuru kabgyat

    Yuru Kabgyat festival is an annual festival celebrated in the Lamayuru Monastery in the month of July/August for two days. On this festival day, Lamas perform a special mask dance with rituals and prayers for the benefit of the world and well-being of the people. Lamas wearing colorful masks dance in a circle accompanied by the beats of drums, cymbals and pipes. Lord of Death and God of Wealth are the two important characters in the dance drama. Sacrificial offerings are made on the conclusion of the dance. It is a highly significant festival with the participation of Buddhists from China, Japan, Korea and Tibet.
