About parippally gajamela
Parippally Gajamela is a grand elephant procession that takes place on the tenth day of the annual festival celebrated at the premises of Kodimoottil Bhadrakali Temple in Parippally, Kollam. More than 50 caparisoned elephants participate in this event. The ritual offering of the elephants to the deity is known as Nercha, which is performed with a belief that the deity will shower blessings to the devotees. Traditional orchestra like Panchavadyam and the Kudamattom ceremony (systematic changing of parasols on the top of the elephants) offer grand visual treat to the spectators. Several cultural programs are organized during the festive days.
