About kajari festival
Kajari Festival is a harvest festival of Chhattisgarh which marks the beginning of the sowing season of barley and wheat. The farmers celebrate this festival to seek the blessings of Goddess for better crop every year. Women blessed with a son are eligible to perform the rituals of the festival. On Shravan Shukla Navami, the women collect soil from the fields in leaf cups and sow barley in it. The cup is then placed in a dark room which is cleaned with mud and cow dung. Rangolis are drawn on floors with rice solution. The cup is religiously worshiped every day till Kajari Purnima. Every day the women pray for the well-being of their husband and children. On the evening of Kajari Purnima, the cups are taken in a procession and immersed in water body.
