  1. About magh bihu (bhogali bihu)

    Magh Bihu also known as Bhogali Bihu is a festival of food celebrated throughout Assam at the end of harvest season in the months of January / February. In the previous night of the festival, people make temporary huts using firewood and clay straw known as Mejis and enjoy the whole night with a lot of cultural programs and community feasts. In the morning they take bath early and burn the Mojis. The burnt pieces of wood are thrown into the fields with a belief that it will provide better harvest. People celebrate the day with lot of interesting programs, dance, music, bull fight, etc. They visit friends and relatives and exchange sweets and gifts.
