    Almora the city of temples is located in the kumaon region of Uttarakhand. This place is famous for its culture, cuisine and wildlife. During the reign of The Chand kings this places was known as “Rajapur”. The town is situated at an average of 1646 meters above the sea level. The town is densely surrounded with fir and pine trees. Swami Vivekanand and Mahatama Gandghi have also mentioned the name of this city in their writing because of its cultural history. Almora was developed by the kumaoni people. Shimla and Nainital are the two neighboring hill stations of Almora. The two languages spoken here are Garhwali and kumaoni.

    Kathgodam is the nearest railhead situated at a distance of 91 km. Cities like Kolkata, Dehradun, Delhi, Jammu, Kanpur, etc. are connected to Kathgodam by rail. Taxis are easily available from Kathgodam station to Almora.

    Almora does not have any airport. The nearest airport is Pantnagar.which is 125 Kms for Almora. Daily flights operate between Delhi and Pantnagar.
