    Auli is an important ski destination in the Himalayan Mountains of Uttarakhand, India. Auli, also known as Auli Bugyal, in Garhwali, which means meadow, is located at an elevation of 2500 to 3050 meters above sea level. It is approx. 400K.M. from Delhi. Auli is a place of impeccable natural vistas of mighty peaks is studded with huge mountainous trees creating fabulous scenery that compels compulsive travelers to set on Auli Tours repeatedly. Auli is blessed with a breathtaking panoramic view of the lofty peaks of the greatest mountain range in the world, the Himalayas. Auli lies on the way to Badrinath. Auli is considered the best skiing slope in Asia. Both sides of the slope are covered with oak and coniferous trees which break the speed of the wind and this makes it ideal for skiing. The slopes in Auli provide enough thrills to professional skier and to novice as well. Facilities for skiing are available from GMVNL. There are certificate and non certificate course provided ranging from 4 days to 14 days. The courses include stay, food, ski gear charges and guide. There are local people who provide Ski Equipment for the casual tourist and also help them to ski. If you have a week time, then it is possible to enroll in Ski courses and learn from experts.

    How to reach?

    By Road

    State transport and Union buses play regularly between Joshimath and Rishikesh (253 km). Local Transport Union Buses and State Transport buses operate between Joshimath and Rishikesh (253 km), Haridwar (277 km), Peace at Auli Dehradun (298 km) and Delhi (500 km). From Joshimath onwards, both bus and taxi services are available for Auli. You can hire a taxi from Haridwar, Rishkesh to Joshimath.There is a cable car/ Ropeway system from Joshimath to Auli. Joshimath to Auli Ropeway system is the highest ropeway of India. Covering a difficult track distance of 4.15 kms in 22 minutes, the ropeway has two cable cars and 10 towers. The ropeway passes over mesmerizing views and worth each penny. The starting point Joshimath is at an altitude of 6254 ft and Auli is at 9896 ft. Ropeway journey also offers a great view of the Himalayan peaks - Nanda Devi, Mana Parbat, Dungagri, Beethartoli, Nikanth Hathi Parbat and Ghori Parbat. Auli itself is bordering on Gorson Reserve forest, greened by golden oak and coniferous trees.

    By Train

    If you are making up your mind to travel by train, go to the closest railway station Rishikesh, which is situated at a distance of 234 kilo meters from Auli. Tourists can also board the train from Delhi, where Shatabdi runs between Delhi and Dehradun. You can take a train from Delhi to Haridwar. It is better to take a taxi from Haridwar To Joshimath. It is advisable to reach Joshimath by 4 pm, from where the ropeway can take you to Auli. Road to Auli is closed after dusk.

    By Air

    The nearest Airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is about 279 km from Auli. Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is a domestic airport located at about 20 km away from city center of Dehradun. Taxi cabs are available from Dehradun airport to Auli. The Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun operates daily flights to Delhi.
