Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) is one of the largest bus stations in India, where seven state owned corporations operate buses connecting different parts of the country. Four national highways originate from the city, which connect Chennai with other Indian cities, and the state highways connect with other parts of the state. Several private travel agencies operate luxury buses between Chennai and the cities in the neighboring states of Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh
Chennai Central is one of the largest railway junctions in the country, which is connected with all major cities like Bangalore, Kochi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, etc. Egmore is another main railway station in the city which is connected with most of the stations within Tamil Nadu and few main places outside the state. From the railway station, prepaid taxis, cabs, auto rickshaws or bus service can be used to reach other parts of the city.
Chennai International Airport located at 7 km from the city operates international and domestic flights at two different terminals. These terminals handle more than 400 flights a day, connecting major cities in India and abroad. From the airport one can hire prepaid taxis, cabs or auto rickshaws to reach different parts of the city.
