    Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is the capital city of Tamil Nadu and the fourth largest metropolitan city of the country. The present city was formed after the British established the Fort of St. George and a trading station in the 17th Century.     Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) is one of the largest bus stations in India, where seven state owned corporations operate buses connecting different parts of the country. Four national highways originate from the city, which connect Chennai with other Indian cities, and the state highways connect with other parts of the state. Several private travel agencies operate luxury buses between Chennai and the cities in the neighboring states of Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh
