Details shared by Rajat Maurya, Sarnath
Buddhists globally look upon India as the place of the Buddha and a visit to this nation means a religious visit to those seats sacred to the reminiscence of the Enlightened One. After the Bouddha reached the God Head in Bodh Gaya he reached Sarnath. Here in the Deer Park, he gave his first oration. Buddha before his death said that Sarnath, Lumbini, Bodh Gaya and Kushinagar are the four places sacred to his followers. The Emperor Ashoka, who spread the Buddha’s communication of love and sympathy right through his vast empire, visited Sarnath around 234BC, and constructed a Stupa here. Quite a few Buddhist structures were constructed at Sarnath between the 3rd century BC and the 11th century AD, and today also all can see the ruins of these structures. Sarnath is situated 10 km from the sacred city of Varanasi, and is an exceedingly peaceful place. The ruins, the museum and place of worship are all within walking distance.
